Lauren Ireland - Plein Air Painting

Lauren Ireland fell in love with ‘plein air painting’ while attending Ringling College of Art and Design. The opposite to her otherwise precisely detailed studio works, painting ‘en plein air’ tests her eye for composition and the handling of pigment and light in a fraction of the time. Plein Air painting, means painting in the open air and trying to capture the composition as the light quickly changes. This method of painting also allows Lauren to be presently aware in intimate, natural surroundings and instills a sense of grounding.

Lauren Ireland has lived in southwest Florida since 1983. She currently lives and works in Bradenton, Florida. Her paintings invites the viewer to visually escape and explore, which is a direct result of her observations of the raw beauty of the planet.
